Reading Time: 2 minutes

What is drive electric week?

National Drive Electric Week (Sept 22 – Oct 1, 2023) is a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. It’s an opportunity for the vehicle owners to share their knowledge and experiences and educate the public. At some of the events the participants are allowed to give rides in their vehicles, while others don’t allow it.

Konkel Park Greenfield Wi event

This year I attended the city of greenfield car show. Dirve $mart Wisconsin coordinated a Drive Electric Week event as part of the show. There were 24 EV’s and HyBrid’s as part of the show. This was a very fun and interesting event to attend as it was a mix of hard core “car” enthusiasts as well as the general public that just wanted to look at cars.

The official event lasted for about 4 hours (noon – 4:00 PM). During that time I talked to a lot of people about Tesla’s, EV’s and Hybrids. It was a lot of typical questions like:

  • What is the range
  • How often do you have to charge
  • How long does it take to charge
  • Do I have to have a 240V outlet

Overall the event was a lot of fun. There was an interesting mix of EV’s and hybrids, which included:

  • Chevy Volt/Bolt
  • Kia EV6
  • Tesla 3/Y
  • Ford Mach-E
  • Kia Niro
  • Plestar 2
  • Toyota Prius Prime
